The USPTO’s Council for Inclusive Innovation (CI²) is assisting inventors who are new to the process of protecting their intellectual property (IP) rights by applying for a patent. The complexity of the patent application process may be a barrier for novice inventors. Novice inventors often need information and resources to help guide them through the patent application process. To that end, we’re excited to announce the launch of the newly revamped Patent Basics webpage.
“This modernized landing page, along with the IP identifier tool and first-time filer pilot program, is another example of our efforts to demystify the patent process, enabling new innovators to make informed decisions and further broadening the innovation ecosystem by bringing more ideas to market,” said Kathi Vidal, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO.
This updated resource provides users with helpful information and resources about patents and the patenting process. The Patent Basics landing page serves as a central hub, providing valuable information about U.S. and international patents to users. For topics requiring a deeper dive, the landing page will help direct users to relevant resources.
You can now access the Patents Basics webpage by visiting https://www.uspto.gov/patents/basics.
